I write poetry much as my father played jazz piano, often staying up deep into the night, starting--it hardly matters where…absorbed in capturing the exact feeling and rhythms…finding the precise words…evolving them into concept and form…loving the beauty of making it all come out right—the ultimate game of solitaire.
