​Joan Roberta Ryan
's most recent work is the poetry anthology Blood Secrets (3: A Taos Press, 2023) which she co-authored with Anita Rodriguez and Andrea Watson.  She is also the author of the poetry collection Dark Ladies & Other Avatars (3: A Taos Press, 2017). And her poems have appeared in Atlanta Review, Nimrod, The Sow’s Ear Review, Spillway, Naugatuck River Review, Ekphrasis, Euphony, Roanoke Review, Calyx, Cold Mountain Review, Off the Coast, Cape Rock, Crab Orchard Review, The Taos International Journal of Poetry and Art, The Prick of the Spindle and other literary journals.  

A passionate cook for all her adult life, Joan is currently working on a collection of love poems and recipes for sensuous treats for two with the working title Aphrodisia.  
 
For the past thirteen years, Joan and her husband Tom have lived in Taos, New Mexico where she indulges her passions for hiking and skiing, mushroom hunting, Mediterranean cooking—and above all—reading and writing poetry.
 
Before moving to Taos in 2009, Joan headed her own direct marketing agency where she created magalogs, commercials, and direct mail packages for clients ranging from Dow Jones to Lenox Collections to AOL to Rodale Press.  During this time, she also served as President of the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association.
